Saturday night in Los Angeles the Screen Actors Guild Awards were handed out and, unlike this year's Oscars, diversity was the theme of the evening. Several black actors won SAG Awards, which honors the year's best achievements in film and TV.
Idris Elba won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Beasts of No Nation and he also won a Best Actor Award for his role in the hit crime drama, Luther. (Elba was overlooked by the Oscars for his movie role in Beasts of No Nation.) Viola Davis won the Best Actor for a female award for her role in How to Get Away With Murder.
Also, in another indicator of this year's Oscars, Leonardo Dicaprio won the SAG award for Best Male Actor for his lead role in The Reverant.
