Movie Review-Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
Tom Cruise is back as Jack Reacher in the new action thriller, based on the series of novels by Lee Childs, Never Go Back. Fans of the novel have been critical of the film because Cruise bears no reseblance to the character in the books, who is described to look like more like an NFL tight end. To that I say, loosen up folks; its just a movie.
In Never Look Back Cruise is once again on the run and trying to clear his name for a crime that he didn't committ. He also gets involved with a female army officer who is also wrapped up in the conspiracy created by some corrupt military officials and, while all that is going on, he discovers something from his past which could possibly affect him on a personal level.
Edward Zwick directs the film. Zwick and Cruise worked together previously on the 2003 movie The Last Samurai and Zwick also directed the 1989 film Glory. In this movie Zwick runs at full throttle with plenty of fight scenes and action and, while not developed very deeply, there is a personal story with Reacher in this film that adds a little heart tug to all of the action and violence.
Jack Reacher-Never Go Back is rated PG-13 for violence and some strong language. It lasts 118 minutes and on my "Hollywood Popcorn Scale" I give this action movie a LARGE! Hollywood Hernandez
