Six Flags for Spring Break

If you're looking for something to do with the kids during spring break, remember, we have a world class theme park right here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area; Six Flags over Texas. You can skip the airfare and the hotel expenses of Disneyland or Disneyworld and, after a long day with the family, you can spend the night at home in your own bed!

I took my family to Six Flags this week and discovered It's the perfect spring break destination for kids and for those of us who want to act like a kid again. There are Thrill Rides, Family Rides and you can even spend an entire day with a five year old (or younger) in Bugs Bunny's Boom Town where the rides are miniature sized a quite a bit tamer.

My eleven year old grandson enjoyed the "grown up rides" with my daughter, like The Batman Ride, Mr. Freeze and The Shockwave coasters while my five year old granddaughter and me spent most of the day in Boom Town, where she rode the Texas Tea cups (her favorite) and the smaller versions of some of Six Flags' more famous rides.

Be warned that during spring break you can expect longer than usual lines (we spent about 45 minutes to an hour to get on each ride) and, while food and drinks are pretty high, you can find ways to save a few bucks if you know what to look for. For example, for about $8 you can get a JUMBO popcorn with free refills and, if you ask, you can save money by asking for cups for free ice water.

We had a blast at Six Flags over Texas and, if you spend the day there, I think you will too.

Check out some of the specials they have with season passes because, after you take them there once, the kids are going to want to go again and again.
