New Artist Juliann Johnson Performs in Dallas
Juliann Johnson performed a private concert in Dallas, TX recently and "Hollywood Hernandez Live" was there for a meet and greet with the artist, who performed for a small group of industry professionals and her family and friends. She's an excellent vocalist who mixes different styles of R&B, Pop and Jazz in her musical style. It was a very enjoyable acoustic set.
Johnson was born on November 25, 1989 in San Diego California, and has been singing ever since. She fell in love with music at a young age, playing the violin and singing in choirs all throughout grade school. Her mother was a singer and sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at many MLB baseball games. Juliann was classically trained as a singer in opera and chorus songs. She held many solos in her school musicals and choir concerts. After high school, volleyball took priority over singing and Juliann stopped training her voice, but continued to sing the National Anthem at many of her volleyball games, University of Texas baseball games and events such as the Hall of Honor. She was known as the “athlete who could sing.”
During her second professional volleyball season in Italy, Juliann was noticed by a fan on YouTube for her singing, and was asked to sing at the team’s presentation. From there she was sought after to sing at the Italian Volleyball League’s All-Star game, where she was named MVP of the match and sang “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys for the half time presentation. Soon after, she was approached by the group, The Italian Job, and asked to collaborate by co-writing and singing on what turned out to be her first single, What I Need. The song was an immediate hit in Italy and with her fan base throughout the volleyball world. Juliann was asked to perform it live on American soil at the World Series of Beach Volleyball, the premier beach volleyball event and music festival. Soon after the release of What I Need, her second single Fantasia was born. She once again worked with Italian DJ’s Thomas Vee and Big Noise by co-writing and recording in Milan, Italy. Inspired by the success of her first two singles, Juliann decided to use her downtime to write and record her first EP, appropriately titled Complete. She wrote and recorded all music within a 5-month period. She has worked meticulously to find her own sound and used her unique vocal styling to create a body of work that she is very proud of and can’t wait for her fans to hear it. Complete is schedule for a spring of 2017 release date. A little inspiration from Juliann to her fans: “Anything is possible. If you love something, go for it. Don’t limit yourself just because everyone else sees you as this one thing. If you never try, you’ll never know what you can accomplish. I aspire to create music that makes people happy. Most importantly, through my music and my play on the volleyball court, I aim to inspire you to be great at anything you decide to do.
