Tiffany Haddish Receives Snub from Golden Globes

December 13, 2017

The Golden Globe nominations were announced with one blaring omission. Break out star Tiffany Haddish was not nominated for her role in the smash summer hit "Girls Trip"; as a matter of fact the movie, which grossed over $100 million, was totally ignored by the Hollywood foreign press. Jada Pinkett Smith, one of the movie's co-stars, Tweeted after the nominations came in, "I have so much to say on why Tiffany Haddish was not nominated for a Golden Globe...but I won't."

The Golden Globes, which are an indicator of Oscar nominations, did acknowledge some deserving talent of color. Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Actor for his role in "Roman J. Israel, ESQ." The movie "Get Out" received a nomination for Best Movie in the Musical or Comedy category. Lead actor Daniel Kaluuya received a nomination for his role in the movie.

Mary J. Blige and Octavia Spencer were both nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Blige for "Mudbound" and Spencer for her role in "The Shape of Water." Mexican director Guillermo del Toro received nominations for the movie "The Shape of Water." One for Best Director and one for Best Screenplay.

By the way Haddish has been asked to be a presenter at this year's awards. The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards Show will be hosted by Seth Meyers and air on January 7, 2018 on NBC.
