Black Panther Sets Box Office Records


The final numbers are in and Black Panther smashed box office records in its opening weekend of release. The movie, which opened over President's Day Weekend, grossed over two hundred million dollars domestically over the four day weekend, which included advanced tickets sales and Thursday night advanced screenings of the movie.

Here's a list of the box office numbers that were set by the movie:

LARGEST FEBRUARY OPENING WEEKEND - $202,003,951 PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Deadpool ($132,434,639)

LARGEST WINTER SEASON OPENING WEEKEND - $202,003,951 PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Deadpool ($132,434,639)

LARGEST PRESIDENT'S DAY WEEKEND OPENING - $242,155,680 PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Deadpool ($152,193,853)

LARGEST MONDAY - $40,151,729 PREVIOUS RECORD HOLDER: Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($40,109,742)

The movie also did huge box office numbers worldwide giving Black Panther almost a half a billion dollars in worldwide receipts in it's opening weekend. It remains to be seen just how high the numbers can go, but Black Panther looks to be a major contender for the top grossing movie of the year.
