Crazy Rich Asians was #1 at the box office this weekend with a five day total (it opened on Wednesday) of $34 million. It's the first all Asian cast to premiere a major Hollywood film since Joy Luck Club did it 25 years ago. The movie was driven mainly by word of mouth. It received an "A" from movie goers who asked audiences to rate the film as they left the theater.
Warner Brothers also had the #2 movie with last week's #1 film, The Meg, bringing in just over $21 million in its second weekend. Spike Lee's Blackkklansman brought in another $7 million to bring the film's total to just over $23 million.
