Movie Review-Predator

The PREDATOR has been around for a long time. The original movie came out in 1987 and featured action stars, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Bill Duke as a group of C.I.A. commandos who first encountered the space alien who came to earth to hunt men for sport. Thirty years later, after a series of PREDATOR movies, some good and some not so good, the PREDATOR is back with a new edition that is the best one in years.

The PREDATOR is now bigger, smarter and stronger after a genetically engineered Predator is created using the DNA from the strongest species collected from around the universe. Now, he's back not to hunt for sport but to collect DNA samples from the cream of the crop that earth has to offer.

The movie is a good combination of humor and action, This crew that hunts the Predator are not elite soldiers but rather a sniper, who previously encountered the Predator on a mission and a group of soldiers who are deemed mentally ill by the Army and on their way to a military mental hospital.

The PREDATOR is rated R for some very bloody violence and it has a run time of 1 hour and 47 minutes. The actors are strong and the movie is directed by Shane Black, who gets a lot of the credit for writing the first modern action genre movie (1987's Lethal Weapon). Just like the PREDATOR, Black is back with a vengeance with the latest edition of the series. On my "Hollywood Popcorn Scale" I rate this movie a JUMBO.
