The City of Dallas Black Academy of Arts and Letters Presented the Riverfront Jazz Festival
Labor Day weekend TBAAL presented the best in Jazz, R&B, Blues and Neo Soul with The Riverfront Jazz Festival. It opened with a free concert at AT&T Discovery District in downtown featuring local artists and was headlined by R & B legends Yarbrough and Peoples. Opening night also featured a New Orleans style 2nd line led by Dallas Black Dance instructor Michele Gibson.
The event continued over the three day weekend at The Dallas Convention Center with nationally known artists such as Erykah Badu, Raheem Devaughn, Marion Meadows, David Sanborn, Jeffrey Osborne, Peabo Bryson, Will Downing and many more local and national artists.
The fourth annual festival wasn't held in 2020 because of the Covid 19 Pandemic, but it returned in 2021 much to the delight of R & B and Jazz fans in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
